대중매체의 폭력성 노출 및 관심이 성인의 대인관계 유능성에 미치는 영향
초록
This study attempted to empirically identify the impact of exposure to violence in mass media on the interpersonal competence of adults in a modern society where media influence has become commonplace. To this end, a survey was conducted on 197 Korean adults to measure media violence factors (imitation, exposure, interest, and purification of aggression) and interpersonal competence. The main results of the analysis are as follows. First, a significant positive (+) correlation was confirmed in which the higher the frequency of exposure to violence in mass media, the higher the interpersonal competence. Second, it was found that the higher the level of purification of aggression, the significantly lower the interpersonal competence. These findings suggest that the cognitive attitude of purification, rather than the simple exposure to violent scenes in media itself, may act as a more decisive variable in social development. This study suggests that enhancing the critical reception ability of viewers and the ethical responsibility of producers are essential rather than the unconditional exclusion of violent content.
