초록
This study employed Q methodology to categorize the subjective perceptions of art therapists regarding their professional identity and analyzed the characteristics and meanings of each type. Q sorting was conducted using Q Method Software with 30 practicing art therapists who had majored in art therapy, held relevant professional certifications, and possessed at least one year of clinical experience. The collected data was analyzed via principal component factor analysis with Varimax rotation using the Ken-Q program. The analysis revealed four distinct types of professional identity among art therapists as follow. Type 1, ‘Expertise-Oriented’, Type 2, ‘Field-Centered’, Type 3, ‘Integrated Role-Oriented’, and Type 4, ‘Reflective Exploration-Oriented’. Across all four types, participants commonly perceived their professional identity not as mere task execution, but as a comprehensive professional framework encompassing therapeutic expertise, self-reflection, client support, and role awareness. This study is significant in that it systematically analyzed the subjective perceptions of art therapists to expand the understanding of their identity, thereby providing foundational data for developing practical training and support systems in the future.
