초록
According to a recent survey in 2021, the percentage of elementary school (4-6), junior high and high school students who have run away from home reaches 3.2%. Therefore, running away from home should no longer be a problem on a personal level, but on a social level. Runaways lead to increased exposure to crime and vulnerability to crime due to lack of protection. In particular, factors such as fear of crime can affect adulthood as adolescents are socialized. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the impact of youth's runaway experience on their fear of crime. If the experience of running away from home influences behavioral fear of crime and emotional fear of crime when gender is specifically controlled, we hope that it will be used as a basis for developing customized measures for criminal justice in the future. For this purpose, 7,109 junior and senior high school students nationwide were selected for analysis using the 2014 data from the Youth Crime Victim Survey. Correlation analysis and latitudinal regression analysis were used to examine whether the youth's experience of running away from home had a difference in their fear of crime. I checked if it works. The study found that experience of runaway was negatively (-) correlated with behavioral crime fear, but not with emotional crime fear. Furthermore, when controlling for gender, runaway experience had a significant negative effect on behavioral crime fear, but not on emotional crime fear. Based on the analysis results, the research implications and suggested points were discussed.
