초록

This study investigates the impact of YouTube-based weight loss exercise content on digital health literacy and its influence on the intention to engage in weight loss exercises. The study participants were 459 consumers nationwide who had experience watching weight loss exercise content on YouTube. The survey was conducted online from November 1 to December 15, 2023. For the analysis, participants not subscribed to health-related channels were excluded in the first stage of the survey. The study explored the relationship between the experience of watching YouTube weight loss content and the intention to engage in weight loss exercises, hypothesizing that digital health literacy plays a mediating role. Additionally, it was hypothesized that the perceived attractiveness of YouTube creators has a moderating effect on this relationship. The analysis showed that digital health literacy significantly mediates the relationship between the experience of watching YouTube weight loss content and the intention to engage in weight loss exercises. Furthermore, the perceived attractiveness of YouTube creators was found to have a moderating effect on this relationship. These findings provide new theoretical insights into the fields of digital media and health communication, offering practical guidelines for individuals aiming for weight loss.
