초록

This paper attempts to prove the merits of the capabilities approach by comparing various environmental justice theories, and to show that Sen‘s approach has a more persuasive among the capabilities approaches of Sen and Nussbaum. Sen's capabilities approach is more stronger in that it approaches environmental issues considering differences or diversity by individuals or regions, and seeks environmental justice through public discussion. However, his approach has the limitation of self-contradiction in that it is difficult to expect any universal consensus standard while presupposing universalism. This is because it is not easy to reach any universal consensus through public discussion alone. Therefore, it is thought that his approach needs additional work to ensure social consensus on environmental justice.
