한국 재택의료 윤리강령의 정립을 위한 시론

초록

This paper aims to present a preliminary discussion on an ethical code of conduct for home-based medical care in Korea. Home-based medical care refers to the provision of medical and caregiving services at patients' residences rather than in hospital settings. In this model, a diverse range of practitioners — including physicians, nurses, social workers, and community-based home care centers — collaborate in response to the needs of individual patients, constituting an integrated approach to medical care and caregiving that encompasses the whole of patients' lives. Because home care practitioners deliver services within the everyday living spaces familiar to patients, they are confronted not only with patients' medical conditions but with the full reality of their lives. This medical environment is unfamiliar to patients and their families as well as to practitioners themselves, and the varied social and ethical challenges that arise in this context may place a considerable ethical burden on all parties involved. In response, this study seeks to contribute to the sound establishment of home-based medical care in Korean society by systematizing and presenting the core values that Korean home-based medical care should uphold, the principles that should guide its practice, and the professional attitudes that practitioners ought to cultivate.
