제21대 국회의원 선거에서 선택을 망설인 유권자 : 기권층, 기결층과 비교적 관점에서 부동층 분석

초록

This paper analyzes late deciders in voting, who account for a large portion of Korean voters, compared to early deciders and non-participants in voting, by utilizing a survey conducted immediately after the 21st National Assembly election. It is crucial to study late deciders in voting in Korean society as it enables us to comprehend their political culture through their political attitudes and tendencies, which represent the majority of Korean voters. Additionally, it helps to diagnose the state of Korean party democracy. The results of the analysis in this paper can be summarized as follows: First, late deciders in voting who are less interested in politics tend to have more ambivalent attitudes towards evaluating the government, less party support, and are more likely to change candidates compared to early deciders in voting. Second, by analyzing the determinants of late deciders in voting, focusing on abstention voters, it was found that swing voters are more interested in politics, more active in obtaining information on politics, and less aware of important political issues in society. Third, based on two models, it was observed that election interest and political awareness significantly affected swing voters, while political efficacy did not have any significant impact on late deciders in any model analysis.
