Digital Transformation of Legal Service Distribution Channels: A Text Mining and Semantic Network Analysis of Legal Policy Literature

Purpose: The present study examines how digital transformation is reshaping legal service distribution channels by identifying structural relationships among LegalTech, artificial intelligence, digital platforms, providers, consumers, and value creation. Research design, data and methodology: A corpus of 61 documents was analyzed using a keyword-based approach. Keywords were normalized into a binary document-keyword matrix. Document frequency and keyword co-occurrence analyses were used to construct an undirected semantic network, followed by degree and betweenness centrality analyses. Results: Artificial Intelligence had the highest document frequency and centrality. The network contained 48 nodes and 215 edges, with an average degree of 8.958 and density of 0.191. LegalTech and Digital Platforms showed connectivity, while Consumers and Value Creation occupied bridging positions, indicating channel-, consumer-, and value-related dimensions beyond technological capability. Conclusions: The findings support a distribution-science interpretation in which digital platforms function as intermediary channels connecting providers and consumers. The proposed framework is a theoretically informed synthesis rather than an empirically tested causal pathway. Digital channels can create time, place, and possession value by reducing temporal and geographical constraints and facilitating access to and use of legal services. The study shows how digital intermediation reorganizes when, where, and how knowledge-intensive professional services become accessible to consumers. © Copyright: The Author(s).
