부여 석목리 143-16번지 유적 하층 출토 목간과 유적의 성격

초록

This study introduces the wooden tablets excavated from the 2nd cultural layer at the Seokmok-ri 143-16 site in Buyeo and investigates the site’ s significance within the Sabi capital city. Chapter II analyzes the stratigraphy and structural changes of the Seokmok-ri 143-16 site and the adjacent Seokmok-ri 143-15 site. The stratigraphy of the area is broadly divided into an upper layer (3rd cultural layer) and lower layers (1st and 2nd cultural layers), both of which appear to be associated with the record of the great flood of 612 AD mentioned in historical texts. The distinction between the 1st and 2nd cultural layers in the lower stratum is evidenced by the discovery of Taihua Six-Zhu(太貨六殊) Coin minted in 579 and used until 589, along with lotus-patterned roof tiles and green-glazed inkstone legs, suggesting that the 1st cultural layer dates to the late 6th century. The 2nd cultural layer likely corresponds to a slightly later period, from the late 6th to early 7th century. Despite the transition from the 1st and 2nd cultural layers to the 3rd cultural layer, the excavated structures and artifacts suggest a consistent function as craft production facilities, likely workshops, throughout all layers. Chapter III introduces one newly discovered wooden tablet in addition to the two previously reported ones. The new tablet bears ink inscriptions on both sides, though only the character ‘Jeonbu(前卩)’ can be definitively identified. While similar wooden tablets with Jeonbu(前部) inscriptions were found in the upper layers, only two examples limits their interpretative significance. However, the presence of these tablets, along with Chinese coins, Japanese Sueki ware, and Goguryeo-style stamped pottery discovered in the surrounding area, suggests that the site served as a logistical hub facilitating the exchange of goods and people. This aligns with findings from the nearby Ssangbuk-ri 56 site, indicating that the Seokmok-ri and Ssangbuk-ri areas were not only consumption and storage centers but also housed workshops producing items such as bronze and glassware.
