초록
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the Mindful Self-Compassion for Teens (MSC-T) meditation program on Self-Compassion, mindfulness and psychological well-bing among adolescents. Participants were first-year middle school students from a school in Seoul, divided into an experimental group (n=16) and a control group (n=16). The experimental group completed eight sessions of the MSC-T program and pre-and post-test were administered to assess program effects. Results indicated that the experimental group demonstrated significant improvements in Self-Compassion (Z=-2.155, p<.05, r=0.539) and mindfulness (Z=-2.456, p<.05, r=0.614) within the Self-Compassion domain. Furthermore, significant enhancements were found in the psychological well-being subdeomains of social relationships (Z=-2.033, p<.05) and happiness (Z=-1.998, p<.05). In contrast, the control group showed a significant decline in overall mindfulness (Z=-2.845, p<.01) and in the subdomain of nonjudgmental acceptance (Z=-2.758, p<.01),as their post-test scores were lower than pre-test scores. The experimental group, however, maintained their post-test scores in overall mindfulness, suggesting a protective effect. These findings confirm that MSC-T can enhance Self-Compassion, foster positiver emoltions, and improver psychological well-being among adolescents. The study provides empirical evidence supporting MSC-T as a foundational approach for cultivating Self-Respect, love, mental well-being, and inner peace in youth. Implications, limitations, and directions for future research aimed at strenghening Self-Respect, emotional stability and mental health promotion are discussed.
