종이 및 e-라벨로 제공된 의약품 첨부문서의 가독성 평가: 국내 해열진통소염제 1개 품목을 대상으로

BACKGROUNDS E-labels, or the electronic provision of medicine package leaflets, have recently gained attention as potential replacements for paper package leaflets after revisions to the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act. However, few studies have examined whether general consumers can effectively locate and use medicine information with e-labels. METHODS This study evaluated the readability of the paper leaflet and e-label for non-prescription nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) through user testing with 30 adults. Readability was measured by tracking, comprehension, and tracking speed. After user-testing, participants were interviewed to gather opinions and suggestions for improving both formats. RESULTS The study found that tracking, comprehension, and tracking speed were lower with e-labels compared to paper leaflets. To improve readability, e-labels should leverage the advantages of digital formats rather than simply replicating paper leaflets, which may carry over existing shortcomings. CONCLUSION By addressing the needs of healthcare professionals and consumers, and making full use of digital technology, e-labels can promote safe medication use, protect consumers’ right to know, and enhance public health.
