포스트휴먼 시대에 인문고전 읽기 －너스바움의 『동물을 위한 정의』 읽기를 중심으로－

초록

This study reflects on the anthropocentric tendencies of reading classical texts in the posthuman era and explores the meaning and potential of posthumanist reading as an alternative. To this end, it first examines the theory suggested by Stefan Herbrechter and Ivan Callus in order to uncover and critique the humanist ideology implicitly presupposed in classical readings. Posthumanist reading, in this regard, refers to a mode of reading that critically interrogates the values assumed by traditional humanism while seeking new conceptions of the human. The study then analyzes a classroom case in which this approach was applied to a university course on classics reading. By guiding students to read and reflect on Martha Nussbaum’s Justice for Animals from a posthumanist perspective, the course encouraged them to develop new insights into the relationship between humans and animals. This study is significant in that it proposes new orientations for reading required in the posthuman era.
