초록

This paper reviews the research flow on Buyeo history in North Korean academia. In particular, we analyzed the perception of Buyeo history in North Korean academia, which has changed since the 2000s, and examined the extent to which there is currently a difference in understanding of Buyeo history between South and North Korea. After liberation, the academia of North and South Korea has been reconstructing Korean ancient history in its own way, removing the shadow of colonial history. In the field of Buyeo history, the early research of both can be evaluated as being developed in a mutually complementary relationship. However, since the 1990s, the two academic perspectives on Korean ancient history have diverged sharply, and the gap in opinion has widened to the point where it is difficult to bridge. However, the history of ‘Later Buyeo’ discussed in North Korean academia is believed to be the only point where joint research on Buyeo history between North and South Korea is possible. If the two countries are to be able to conduct joint research on Buyeo history in the future, they will have to start from here.
