This study employs 2018 U.S.-China trade conflict quasi-natural experiment applies Difference-in-Differences DID model empirically examine impact exogenous shock overseas innovation cooperation Korean listed firms results show U.S.-China trade conflict exerted significant positive effect overseas innovation collaboration Korean listed enterprises Specifically compared firms never engaged cross-border innovation cooperation China United States before trade conflict those pre-existing innovation ties either country experienced notable increase overseas collaborative patent applications after outbreak trade conflict conclusions study contribute deeper understanding economic consequences U.S.-China trade war provide valuable practical insights enterprises third-party countries facing similar geopolitical circumstances.
