헤이세이 지식인은 어떻게 ‘성숙’할 수 있는가? ― 아즈마 히로키의 ‘아버지-죽이기’와 ‘아버지-되기’ ―

초록

This paper analyzes the thought and praxis of Azuma Hiroki—one of the most prominent philosophers and public intellectuals in contemporary Japan—from Ontological, Postal to the practices of Genron Café and dark tourism. Using the psychoanalytic motif of “patricide,” it examines how Azuma and the generation of 2000s Japanese intellectuals negotiated their ambivalent relationship with the symbolic “father.” By tracing Azuma’s tense intellectual dialogue with his mentor Karatani Kōjin, the paper elucidates his dual consciousness of “killing” and “becoming” the father. It contends that this excessive father-consciousness constitutes the generational unconscious of post-Heisei Japanese thought, illuminating the collective condition of intellectuals and the (im)possibility of maturity in contemporary Japan.
