고교학점제 내 다문화 교육의 제도 구조와 교육 지원 과제

초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the institutional structure and current implementation status of multicultural education within the credit-based high school system and to explore feasible support measures to ensure its sustainable and context-sensitive integration. Based on a document analysis methodology, the study reviews the structural framework of the system and draws on local case examples to identify institutional constraints and challenges in the operation of multicultural education. This study first analyzes the structural characteristics of elective courses and school-organized credits to understand the institutional position of multicultural education within the overall curriculum framework. It then investigates how multicultural education has been implemented as an elective subject by local education offices and individual high schools, highlighting its limited and often fragmented operation. Finally, it discusses the need for practical support strategies, including the development of instructional materials and the establishment of a platformbased support system. In particular, this study emphasizes the necessity of subjectintegrated multicultural education as a cross-curricular theme, which should be embedded across all subjects rather than confined to a specific elective course. For this purpose, a platform-based support system must offer accessible and ready to-use educational resources that enable teachers to integrate multicultural perspectives into various subject areas. The findings indicate that despite the system’s aim of promoting flexibility and diversity, multicultural education remains marginalized within the school curriculum due to the dominance of entrance-exam-oriented subject selection and the lack of nationwide consistency and shared guidelines. This study contributes to identifying directions for the sustainable integration and school-based implementation of multicultural education within the framework of the credit-based high school system.
