한국한자음 [애]ai・[에]əi에 대응하는 일본한자음

초록

This study analyzes the correspondence between 138 Korean Sino readings that follow the [애]ai and [에]əi pattern and their counterparts in Japanese Sino readings, based on the JoyoKanji List(2010). The findings are summarized as follows: 1) The 78 Sino Korean [애]ai correspond to 81 ai, 3 a, 1 o, 1 ui and 1 e in Japanese. 2) The 13 Sino Korean [앵]aiŋ correspond to 9 ou, 4 ei, 2 jou and 1 aN in Japanese. 3) The 19 Sino Korean [액]aik correspond to 13 aku, 3 jaku, 2 eki, and 4 others in Japanese. 4) The 27 Sino Korean [에]əi correspond to 17 ei, 13 ai and 1 e in Japanese. As seen above, the Sino Korean [애]ai corresponds to the Sino Japanese ai, while [에]əi corresponds to ei. In addition, the Sino Korean [앵]aiŋ, like [앙]aŋ, corresponds to the Japanese reading au>ou, and [액] aik, like [악]ak, corresponds to aku. It is also important to note that the Middle Chinese final ŋ has been opened into the vowel u in Japanese readings, and k into ku, forming open syllables. Furthermore, diphthongs such as au have changed into long vowels ou. These correspondences require image training based learning to be internalized.
