『자얏디사 자따까』에 나타난 sacca의 용례와 의미- Jayaddisajātaka와 Jayaddisajātakavaṇṇanā를 중심으로 -

초록

This paper aims to scrutinize and display the complexity of the concept sacca (satya) in the narrative of the Jayaddisa Jātaka and its commentary. Based on narrative analysis, three distinctive fields of meaning are identified. Firstly, sacca as a promise is represented by the formula sacca-anurakkhī. This usage has sandhi and patiññā as its synonyms and should be differentiated from saṅgara, by which a transactional agreement is suggested. Secondly sacca in the truth-act (saccakiriya) of the family members of the endangered prince Alīnasattu is best interpreted as a credible fact which has taken place in the past. This fact is related in each saccakiriya based on the deep-rooted belief that a wish should be manifested by the power of employing a reliable past event in one’s speech. Thirdly, the phrase sacca-vādin at the latter part of the story combines together sacca and dhiti (‘resolution’), of which the perfection of the truth (sacca pāramitā) consist in the narrative of the Jayaddisa Jātaka and its commentary.
