Correspondence between Modern Chinese Ce Syllable and Sino-Japanese: Focusing on Joyokanji Table

초록

This paper extracted the Chinese characters that correspond to the modern Chinese Ce syllable in the Joyokanji Table, and examined the correspondence between Chinese and Japanese Kanji pronunciations from the perspectives of closed-syllable and open-syllable characters. Among the closed-syllable kanji corresponding to the Ce syllable in modern Chinese. While Sino-Japanese directly incorporates the entering tone rhyme endings from Middle Chinese, in the case of Chinese, they undergo two phonological changes, weakening or dropping the entering tone rhyme endings and raising the back tongue position of the main vowel, resulting in the Ce syllable. Among the open-syllable kanji corresponding to the Ce syllable in modern Chinese. While there is little difference between the Japanese Kanji pronunciation in "-ja" form and "-a" form and the reconstructed sounds of Middle Chinese, the Ce syllable in modern Chinese undergo the raising of the back tongue position in the main vowel, resulting in the Ce syllable.
