기술생성시대 AI 예술의 미학적 가능성

AI has entered the realm of artistic creation, long considered a uniquely human domain, and has introduced a new form of artistic output known as AI Art. However, AI Art has raised fundamental questions about the essence and value of art, leading to intense debates within the art world. These contemporary debates surrounding AI Art seem to echo the criticisms once directed at photography, often devolving into unproductive arguments. Therefore, the art world must move beyond these fruitless disputes and strive to understand the new aesthetic possibilities and values that AI Art brings. As Walter Benjamin suggested in the past, it may be more beneficial for the advancement of the art world to focus on discussing "Art as AI Art" rather than debating "AI Art as Art." This paper aims to explore the aesthetic possibilities, values, and aesthetic experiences associated with AI Art. To achieve this, it will first establish a basic understanding of AI Art and then examine the renewed wave of art criticism that AI Art's emergence has provoked. Following this, the paper will analyze the aesthetic possibilities found in AI Art from the perspectives of Dewey's functional theory, Danto's procedural theory, and Flusser's historical theory. Finally, it will consider the value of AI Art and the aesthetic experiences it engenders, focusing on the insights of Davies. Through this study, the paper seeks to demonstrate that AI Art is not merely a replication of human art but a potential avenue for exploring new realms of artistic expression and experience, thereby contributing to a reevaluation of the essence and value of art.
