다문화 청소년의 문화적응 스트레스가 사회적 위축에 미치는 영향 - 사회적 고립(외로움)과 우울의 순차매개효과 -

초록

Multicultural adolescents are likely to experience acculturative stress in ways that differ from their non-multicultural peers due to parents’ migration backgrounds, the cultural and linguistic environment, and experiences of discrimination at school. Psychological difficulties showed a tendency to intensify social withdrawal manifested as avoidance of interpersonal relationships. Such cumulative psychological distress may, in turn, exacerbate social withdrawal manifested as avoidance of interpersonal relationships. Accordingly, this study explored factors influencing social withdrawal among multicultural adolescents and tested the proposed serial mediation effect, with loneliness (social isolation) and depression specified as mediators. Using data from the 5th wave (2023) of the second Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study, a serial mediation model was analyzed with SPSS PROCESS Macro Model 6. The results indicated that acculturative stress exerted positive effects on loneliness and depression. Loneliness significantly increased depression, and depression robustly predicted social withdrawal. Specifically, the effect of acculturative stress on social withdrawal was indirectly explained through the sequential pathway from loneliness to depression, supporting the proposed serial mediation. Based on these findings, this study discussed integrative support strategies to prevent and alleviate social withdrawal among multicultural adolescents by targeting reductions in acculturative stress, loneliness, and depressive symptoms.
