초록

In this chapter, the active vibration control of a cylindrical shell equipped with piezoelectric sensors and actuators is investigated. To this end, the equations of motion of the smart cylindrical shell along with the effect of piezoelectric transducers are derived based on the Hamilton’s principle and the Sanders shell theory. The assumed mode method discretizes the continuous equations and the equations of motion are presented in a matrix form which is suitable for a controller design. A modified higher harmonic controller (MHHC) and a multi-input and multi-output linear quadratic Gaussian (MIMO LQG) controller are designed to suppress the vibration of cylindrical shell. A test setup was built to verify the theoretical model of smart shell and to evaluate the designed controllers. Results show that the proposed methods are effective in reducing the low-frequency vibration. © 2016 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
