초록

Objectives This study aims to explore child-based self-worth through a scoping review, laying the groundwork for future research and suggesting directions for further studies. Methods To achieve this, research was conducted on studies related to child-based self-worth published in Korea up to May 2024. According to the scoping review procedure, the research question was framed as, “How has re search on child-based self-worth been conducted?” A relevant literature search was conducted. Out of 195 pa pers identified through the search, 22 papers were finally selected as the subjects of the study after applying ex clusion and inclusion criteria. Results Studies on child-based self-worth were reported once in 2015 and 2017, with continuous research con ducted annually since 2019. All studies were quantitative research that examined the relationships between varia bles based on self-reported responses collected through surveys. The majority of the studies focused on mothers (15 papers), with 4 papers focusing on parents, 2 papers on children and mothers, and 1 paper on children and parents. The most frequently appearing related variable was psychological control, which showed a positive corre lation with self-worth contingent on children in a total of 11 studies. Conclusions Future research should expand the scope of subjects to include not only mothers but also fathers and children. Moreover, more diverse approaches, such as qualitative or mixed-method research, are needed to com plement the limitations of quantitative studies. The results of this study provide a basis for future research by re viewing studies on child-based self-worth and are expected to contribute to follow-up studies aimed at promot ing positive relationships between parents and children in Korean society.
