초록

This paper aims to provide preliminary information on a Sanskrit Larger Prajñāpāramitā manuscript included in the Schøyen Collection, specifically indexed as MS2627/4. A preliminary investigation of the four bundles of Larger Prajñāpāramitā manuscripts (MS2627/4-1, 2, 3, 4) reveals that these bundles were written in the 6th-7th centuries on birch bark using the Brāhmī script (Gilgit/Bamiyan Type I). The material consists of 70-80 folios, each measuring approximately 30 x 7 cm. Due to mud, dust, or ink, the folios are stuck together, and preservation work, including the separation of the stuck folios, is currently in progress. Based on the similarity of the script and production method, as well as the continuity of the content, it is highly likely that at least three of the bundles (MS2627/4-2, 3, 4) were originally part of a single manuscript that was later separated. The investigation shows that this manuscript is not only one of the earliest surviving Sanskrit Larger Prajñāpāramitā manuscripts but also retains a significant amount of text that provides access to different readings from other available sources, making it a crucial resource for future research on the development and transmission of the Larger Prajñāpāramitā literature.
