초록
This study aims to identify the particularities and universalities of domestic victimology by comparing its academic trends with those of international research. To overcome the limitations of prior studies—manual classification methods and a scope confined to domestic journals—this study expands its analytical range to include international literature and employs topic modeling (BERTopic) to enhance objectivity. A total of 393 articles published over five years (2021–2025) in Victimology Research and Victims & Offenders were analyzed. Keyword frequency analysis revealed that domestic research concentrates on policy responses within judicial procedures (e.g., “protection”, “criminal”, “support”, “system”), whereas international research emphasizes empirical inquiry into specific crime types (e.g., “violence”, “sexual”, “online”, “IPV”, “trafficking”). BERTopic-based analysis further showed that domestic research is structured around victim protection systems, while international research forms specialized domains by crime type and expands its scope to address emerging risks associated with digital transformation and the COVID-19 pandemic. In conclusion, 「Korean Journal of Victimology」 exhibits a strong policy-oriented character tied to criminal justice practice, whereas 「Victims & Offenders」 demonstrates a more phenomenological orientation exploring diverse victimization and emerging risks. This study recommends that 「Korean Journal of Victimology」 broaden its research agenda beyond legal and institutional discourse through interdisciplinary convergence.
