초록

The purpose of this paper is to understand the specificity of the hwadu through pragmatic language analysis that emphasizes the situational context between the speaker and the listener, and to schematize and examine the process of hwadu chamgu. To this end, we first looked at the relationship between Zen Buddhism and language, and it can be seen that while acknowledging the use of language, we aimed for a practice method that was not obsessed with language. Next, we looked at pragmatics and indirect speech act theory that break away from the existing semantic interpretation of hwadu and focus on the speaker's intention and situation. Through this, the hwadu was seen as examining the appropriateness of the context and speech situation for the subjective use of language between the speaker and the listener. Lastly, we applied Daehye Seonsa's hwadu chamgu process to an indirect speech act parallel processing model that schematizes the process of intention in an actual utterance. This is a linguistic methodology that examines the process of controlling the pre-consciousness and unconsciousness through the activities of the sixth consciousness. Through this, we hope that lively discussions about hwadu and linguistics will continue, and that proper understanding of hwadu will help in practical Ganhwaseon practice.
