고려시대 금속공예품의 명문 연구와 방향 －불교공예품을 중심으로－

초록

The inscriptions on metal crafts of the Goryeo Dynasty include the year and sexagenary cycle, indicating the production date, the names of the enshrinement site as well as the originator and craftsman. Based on these inscriptions, research has been conducted on various aspects such as the production period, style, and the status of the patrons of these metal crafts. This research was made possible by the efforts of earlier scholars who continuously collected, organized, and published epigraphic materials since the 1960s. Since the 2000s, the digitization and online service of epigraphic materials have enabled unrestricted access to these records regardless of time or location. Furthermore, the newly reorganized National Heritage Knowledge Platform Database’s epigraphy site now provides not only decipherment and interpretation, but also actual images and rubbings of stone monuments. This service should be expanded to include inscriptions on Goryeo Dynasty metalwork, and the National Heritage Service is committed to pursuing this direction, promising high-quality services in the future. In line with this new approach to epigraphy services, research on art history and Buddhism should be conducted in a more multi-faceted manner. It is thought that a three-dimensional study of art history and Buddhist history should proceed in the direction of addressing the spaces and purposes for which metal crafts with inscriptions were used, and the rituals they were related to.
