Despite the establishment of Dementia Care Centers nationwide for over five years, there is a lack of empirical trials for validating the effectiveness of their programs. This study aims to evaluate the intervention effects on individuals with ild dementia using the dementia patient respite service. Specifically, it assesses the effectiveness of an integrated cognitive rehabilitation program that has recently been applied in various field settings. This study employed a pre-post design with a single group, analyzing 56 individuals with mild dementia from G City Dementia Care Center. The program, which ran from August 17, 2022, to December 15, 2022, and from February 20, 2023, to June 22, 2023, included bi-weekly sessions over 4 months (16 weeks). Assessments were conducted before and after the integrated cognitive rehabilitation program, focusing on cognitive function, subjective memory decline, depression, and activities of daily living (ADL). The program comprised four activities: cognitive activities (16 sessions of occupational therapy and ADL), handicraft activities (16 sessions), physical activities (32 sessions of silver line dance), and basic nursing assessments and motional activities (32 sessions of tea ceremony and gardening). Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0, with paired t-tests for cognitive function and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests for depression, subjective memory decline, and daily living activities. he main results showed significant changes in cognitive function (t=-4.76, p<.001), subjective memory decline (t=3.21, p<.01), depression (t=4.63, p<.001), and ADL performance (t=-12.35, p<.001), confirming the ffectiveness of the integrated cognitive rehabilitation program. These findings substantiate the current program’s effectiveness, providing practitioners with confidence in their work and offering scientifically proven interventions for individuals with mild dementia using Dementia Care Centers.
