마약사범의 관문효과(Gateway Effect) 탐색 연구

초록

This study aims at investigating the relationships between soft drug and hard drug in terms of “gateway effect.” In particular, this present study focus on examining the impact of soft drugs on addicting hard drugs. Numerous studies have demonstrated “the reverse-gate way effect” which is opposite to the traditional causality between soft drug use and hard drug use. The current study utilized nine drug offenders who were convicted with the drug addiction problems and were under attendance order in Su-Won Probation Office from August, 2024. The in-depth interview was conducted toward the nice drug criminals for a month. Result demonstrated that there was no clear evidence for gateway effect of soft drug use in that samples. If there is no cause and effect between soft drug use and hard drug use in terms of gateway effect, individualized treatment and decriminlaizaton model for soft drug users were required. Further policy implications will be discussed.
