초록

This study reconceptualized university students’ critical thinking as an integrated competency comprising skills and dispositions, and developed and validated the Critical Thinking Competency Scale for University Students. Based on a literature review, a model with four skill factors and seven disposition factors was established, and 131 preliminary items were created and reviewed for content validity. A pilot study (n=309) refined the items through exploratory factor analysis. Subsequently, a main study (n=610) confirmed the final scale using confirmatory factor analysis and validity testing. The resulting 65-item scale supported a multidimensional structure with two domains: skills (25 items) and dispositions (40 items). The skills domain included meaning interpretation, contextual analysis, argument construction and evaluation, and information validity assessment, while the dispositions domain comprised open-mindedness, intellectual patience, inquisitiveness, intellectual humility, reflective thinking, and intellectual autonomy. The scale demonstrated high overall reliability (Cronbach’s α = .96) and showed concurrent and criterion-related validity via significant positive correlations with existing critical thinking skill and disposition measures, problem-solving ability, and learning strategies.
