초록

This paper analyzes the correspondence between Sino Korean and Sino Japanese for 119 characters corresponding to Sino Korean vowel categories [jei, uə, uəi, oi, oai, ui] as listed in the Joyokanji Table (2010). As a result, it was found that the Sino Korean jəi corresponds to the Sino Japanese ei, uən to eN, uəl to etsu, uəi and ui to i, and oi to ai. Through the above analysis, it can be confirmed that some originally similar correspondences between Korean and Japaneses-such as the correspondence between uən and wen>eN, uəl and wet>etsu, oai and wai>ai, and ui and wi>i-have changed as a result of the loss of medial glides in Japanese. Furthermore, considering that Sino Korean ui corresponds to the Japanese wi>i, and that Sino Korean oai corresponds to the Japanese wai>ai, it is necessary to understand that Sino Korean oi originally reflected the main vowel ɐ(아래아), which was lost due to monosyllabification. As a result, oi comes to correspond to the Japanese wai>ai. With regard to these correspondence rules, it is necessary to visualize representative examples schematically and to engage in image based training that facilitates learning about the reflection of Middle Chinese sounds and the phonological changes in Sino Korean and Sino Japanese.
