초록

This paper presents a bidirectional push-pull resonant DC/DC converter designed to operate efficiently across a wide voltage range. While conventional converters typically employ two-level flying capacitor voltages (Vcd) in both directions and have limited gain ranges, the proposed converter operates with three-level Vcd in both forward and backward directions. This significantly expands the gain range to 1-∞ in forward direction and 0-1 in backward direction that allows the use of low transformer turn ratio. Consequently, parasitic inductance and capacitance are reduced, which effectively suppresses voltage spikes and mitigates electromagnetic interference (EMI). The converter also ensures seamless output voltage transitions between operations with two-level and three-level ac voltage. A 1-kW prototype operating at 21-54 V input and 400 V output validates the feasibility of the proposed converter. © 2025 Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers Electrical Machinery and Energy Conversion Systems Society.
