- Abstract
- The objective of this study was to design multi-input and multi-output feedback control for vibration suppression of structures using multiple active mass dampers driven by linear servo motors. The linear servo motor was used to enhance control effectiveness and decrease noise. The multi-input and multi-output modal-space negative acceleration feedback control was developed to fully utilize multiple accelerometers and multiple active mass dampers. Control spillover problem due to mistuning of the negative acceleration feedback control was also investigated in detail. To determine the efficacy of the proposed multi-input and multi-output modal-space negative acceleration feedback control, a two-story building-like structure was built and tested. A dynamic model was derived by using energy approach and beam modeling. The proposed multi-input multi-output modal-space negative acceleration feedback controller was validated both theoretically and experimentally for the test structure. Both numerical and experimental results showed that the proposed controller could effectively suppress vibrations. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
