- Abstract
- This article presents a reconfigurable interleaved active voltage-quadrupler rectifier based resonant dc–dc converter that operates under wide voltage gain range. The proposed converter operates as an interleaved symmetric voltage-quadrupler for voltage gain less than unity and an interleaved asymmetric active voltage-quadrupler for voltage gain between one and two. When it operates as the interleaved asymmetric active voltage-quadrupler, two asymmetric currents flow through the capacitors alternatively, which balances the voltages across the output-side capacitors. Under the balanced voltages across output-side capacitors, we acquire the precise voltage gain for each operational mode using the time-domain analysis. We present design guideline of the power components for the proposed converter considering both operations. As a result, the proposed topology exhibits a high step-up and wide output voltage characteristics without having a high transformer turns-ratio. A 1-kW prototype supporting 125-V input voltage and 100∼800-V output voltage demonstrates the practical viability of the proposed converter. © 1982-2012 IEEE.
