| dc.description.abstract | Due to the rise in product demand, industries have become important users of water resources. To avoid contamination, the wastewater produced by the industry must be treated before it may be repurposed or released into the environment. A significant barrier to achieving sustainable development is the presence and release of organic pollutants in an aquatic environment as a result of industrial discharges, agricultural activities, or improper waste disposal. Applying bacterial community analysis to the wastewater might yield significant preliminary data. Bacterial species that are more efficient at bioremediating the contaminated wastewater may be determined by the facts. Among the different methods, bioremediation is one of the cost-effective and environmentally beneficial ways to cleanse wastewater and get rid of organic contaminants. The chapter emphasizes the features of wastewater as of various sectors, as well as preliminary, primary, secondary, and advanced treatment methods and the efficacy of treatment for reusing the treated water. Additionally, the fundamentals of bacterial remediation, including its processes, fundamental values, and influences on the remediation process, were covered. © 2024 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
