The modern era has seen significant technological advancement, putting enormous demands on natural resources. In the context of rising energy consumption, the limitation of fossil fuels is a serious economic issue. As a result, renewable energies are growing rapidly. Microalgae-based biofuels, for instance, are seen as a possibility because the raw material contains essential biomolecules such as lipids and carbohydrates. One of the utmost significant applications of microalgal biomass is the production of third-generation renewable biofuels such as biohydrogen, bioethanol, biogas, and biodiesel. As a result, several other factors must be evaluated depending on the selected microalgae, such as nutrition type, culture mode and strategies, cultivation system selection, and microalgal product application. We aim to accomplish in this chapter that there are several phases involved in producing biofuel from microalgal biomass. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.-
