| dc.description.abstract | Researchers have shown great interest in developing quantum dots (QDs) since the 1980s, with a focus on their applications in optics, electronics, and computing. Although the toxic properties of semiconducting QDs limited their potential applications in natural science and medicine, recent advances in QD fabrication and applications have garnered significant attention. In particular, QDs have shown promise in biological sciences due to their ability to form linkages with biomolecules without affecting their biological activity. QDs are now being used in biomedical applications such as sensing and molecular imaging, thanks to their emerging optical properties. Furthermore, QDs hold potential in the field of biomedical drug delivery applications, owing to their optical and structural properties. With the development of newer techniques and detection methods, QDs offer immense potential for application in various fields. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. | - |
