In Korea, the policy of collecting expired medicine has continued for a long time, however, improvements is still required. Previous studies focused on qualitative research and proposed more effective policies The absence of quantitative analysis on the expired medicine collection policy has limited the ability to measure the policy performance, which has left a lack of evidence for more effective regulatory reform. This study used local government ordinances to variable regulatory factors for collecting expired medicines (regulation location-time-overlap-environment) and analyzed the results and effects of regulations on collecting expired medicines through regression analysis. The results of the analysis showed that the more concentrated discharge location, the more positively it affected the amount of expired medicines collected, and regulatory overlap had a negative effect on the amount of expired medicines collected. This study is the first quantitative study conducted in Korea and is significant in that it confirmed the effects of regulatory factors on collecting expired medicines.-
