Management of Technology (MOT) has emerged as a prominent area in industrial engineering (IE) in both academic and practical contexts. Originating from the management of research and development (R&D) during World War II, MOT has gathered increasing attention, encompassing a wide range of topics such as technology planning, assessment, and evaluation. In doing that, MOT has maneuvered a diverse set of IE theories and methods. With the 50th anniversary of the Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers (KIIE), this paper retrospectively examines the evolution of MOT research, highlighting international and domestic trends as well as practical applications. Furthermore, at the entrance to the next-generation of MOT, this study suggests promising themes of future research together with the insights into the property of transitional shift.-
