- Abstract
- A mirrorless vehicle replaces a rear-view mirror and side-view mirrors with a camera monitoring system to show the video footage of a car’s surroundings. These systems mainly take the place of the rear-view mirror with displays that show the rear and the blind spots. Static seam-lines are mostly applied to the camera monitoring system for image synthesis, but its outcomes are vulnerable to unstructured camera arrays. To compensate these defects, we try to move seam-lines to a position where synthesis errors could be minimized. The proposed seam-line determination algorithm comprised of color computation, edge detection, and horizontal-line detection algorithms is used to change the seam-lines’ position. Experiments using three unbalanced camera arrays show that seam-lines appear to avoid cars whenever possible. It is verified that camera monitoring systems can provide a more realistic panoramic rear-view than before.
