This paper discusses the variability of the Clause-Mate Condition (CMC) effects in multiple fragments in Korean. Bae and Park (2018) argue that the CMC effects arise due to the interplay of ellipsis and processing. Discussing a wider range of the data, however, I show that the relevant facts are more restricted. To account for the restrictions, I suggest the following general processing mechanism: once the parser makes certain assumptions at some point it strongly tends to preserve the same assumptions for later processing steps. It is also shown that the processing mechanisms can be extended to the variability of the CMC effects in adjunct multiple fragments. Finally, I argue that the re-ordering possibility of fragments further restricts the CMC effects.-
