| dc.description.abstract | This article is about the Korean adverb ‘너무’. In Korean language, ‘너무’ has several meanings. Besides the usual meaning-too, it contains negative meaning in most circumstances, according to the Korean Language Dictionary and Korean textbooks. As in adverb, ‘너무’ has similar use with Chinese word ‘太’. In this thesis , We will study the difference between the two adverbs from both meaning and syntactic aspects in order to supply some help to chinese students who study Korean, The specific study is ai below. The Korean adverb ‘너무’ most of the time shows similar meaning with Chinese adverb ‘太’ and “too much”, but the degree of emphasis is different. Additionally, there are other popular features of adverbs in front of ‘太’. From the aspect of grammar, the Korean adverb ‘너무’ and Chinese adverb '太' are not always have the same meaning. When ‘너무’ combined with causative verb, there will be some limitation. When ‘너무’ is using with ‘웃기다, 울리다 등’, ‘너무1-1’ means “positively too much”; when with ‘입히다, 보이다’, ‘너무1-2’ means ‘negatively too much’. And also, ‘너무’ shows meaning of ‘너무1-1’ when it is with active verbs. | - |
