Vagueness is pervasive in various branches of linguistics, including grammar, semantics and phonetics. It is an interdisciplinary matter to precisely express the degree of the vagueness, so as to enhance its accuracy. Mathematics is the most important and precise discipline in natural science. Therefore, it is a good approach to apply the most precise discipline to address the vagueness in humanities. This dissertation takes vague numerals as the object of study and the application of membership function to calculate the degree of vagueness of vague numerals as the research content, so as to analyze the inherent law and the value of the membership in linguistics. After explaining the basic concepts, this dissertation expounds on the degree of membership with three typical examples, to get the convergent point of vagueness in the fuzzy set. In short, the closer the point is to the number of vague numerals, the higher the degree of membership is, vice versa.-
