- Abstract
- Mobile phone users have moved from feature phones to smart phones on the advent of iPhone. Even though there are several reasons for this phenomenon, the biggest reason is common usage of diverse applications on mobile platforms. Many kinds of applications are installed and actively used on mobile devices.
This study basically aims to see what factors affect actual usage of applications. Kakao Talk, one of popular applications on mobile devices, is selected and analyzed by means of DeLone and McLean's IS Success Model. Influencing variables are classified into three factors such as quality, individual attributes, and social influence. Users' satisfaction and usage level are suggested in a research model.
The results of this study are as the followings. First, Information quality of Kakao Talk does not have a positive influence on users' satisfaction and actual usage. Main purpose of Kakao Talk is to provide communication by chat or social networking rather than to provide information. Secondly, system quality has significant influence on users' satisfaction. This implies that users are more interested in ease of use and high-speed accessibility rather than service quality such as periodic updates and error recovery. Third, subjective norm has strong influence on actual usage, which means the size of network is an important factor to users.
